Background

Dokolo Youth Alliance Project (DYAP) is a youth-centered non-profit organization focused on youth empowerment programs with an emphasis on HIV/AIDS and TB awareness and prevention, livelihoods for youth aged 12-30 years. Dokolo Youth Alliance Project works towards a world where young people make informed life choices. 

Dokolo Youth Alliance Project works through a multifaceted approach, targeting to influence knowledge, skills and resources necessary to make informed decisions about their lives, nurturing their potential as change makers within their communities. The organization fosters grassroots advocacy, awareness creation, peer education, community engagement, and effective communication through various media channels. Dokolo Youth Alliance Project aims to create a supportive environment that empowers youth to lead healthier and more informed lives.

Dokolo Youth Alliance Project is registered with Dokolo District Local Government. It started as a Youth group in 2011 and it was later registered as a Community Based Organization (CBO) in 2012 so as to strengthen its capacity in mitigating the challenges affecting young people in Dokolo District and other Districts within Lango Sub Region. The challenges includes high rate of HIV infections, limited access to ART by YLWHIV, increase in drugs and substance abuse by the Youth, high rate of unemployment, teenage pregnancy and illiteracy. The organization’s programs directly benefit youth, teenage mothers, girls and children. The secondary beneficiaries are the households of the youth, teenage mothers, girls and children, Schools and Health facilities, Youth with Disabilities, and Young Persons Living with HIV/AIDS.
